Drywall and
paint is probably the most forgotten and overlooked task in the remodeling
industry. Have you ever walked into someone's house and seen a brown spot
on the ceiling where there was obviously a roof leak and later found out
that it happened 5 years ago? Do you have a door that makes you crazy
when it's closed because it reveals a place where the thumb lock cut a
hole in the sheetrock? What about cracks in a plaster ceiling that got
a makeshift fix the last time the room was painted and cracked again in
the same place a year later? Do you have a picture that can't be moved
because it's hiding a bad drywall patch? Sometimes we walk into homes
that have 4 different textures in a single room.
C'mon,
let's get these things fixed right! Drywall makes a HUGE difference!
Simply painting over it is not good enough. It's a very low cost item
compared to the other things you're going to be doing. Please don't
offer to paint yourself in an effort to save dollars. You don't save
that much, and you'll live with that paint on your doorknobs for years.
There are few better bangs for the buck than a quality texture repair
and a professionally done paint job.
